From Traditional to Elevated: A Look at Viscor’s New Visioneering Families

4

Over the last few months, the Visioneering Side of Viscor has released a few families that have made a splash. There are three families we're going to talk about in this post.

The ALTO - a uniquely designed elevation of the troffer
The SELEST (SLSX / SLSV) - a curved 2x2 luminaire that adds a third dimension to your designs
The ALLURA F (ALRF) is a soft rectilinear pendant perfect for classrooms and conference rooms.

ALTO - let's give a little depth to the flat panel

Here's why we really like this family - it sits at a competitive price point while elevating from the basic flat panels we're seeing so much of right now.

The trick is to provide some recessing depth for the backlit panel and add visual comfort in the soft light form factor. This is one of those products that photos don't really do justice...you need to see it in person to appreciate it. The beveled edge and the recess add up to a lovely detail that makes this feel like a soft light in the ceiling.

SELEST curved in a whole new way

Curves are most definitely back...and manufacturers are reacting to the trend. But this one is unique. Rather than creating a curve on the flat plane, we're going up and changing elevation in a 2x2 form factor. The SLS is designed to create an upward curve making it a dimensional piece in the space.

This curve can be concave (SLSV) or convex (SLSX). The two form factors can be placed and end to create an undulating ceiling effect. It's a totally unique way of adding a 2x2 in a space. It's also the rare 2x2 you'd like to see installed as a pendant.

ALLURE (ALR) is the return of a classic form factor

This rectilinear pendant is a form factor you've seen in classrooms, conference rooms, and healthcare facilities for a long time. Viscor brings their usual level of engineering and support to this classic form factor, offering some highly efficient performance in a clean form factor. We see this most often being used in classrooms.

Much more from Viscor

If you're unfamiliar with Viscor, this factory is based in Toronto and has a long history of OEM sales to the rest of the lighting industry. Under its own label, Viscor has done work with healthcare facilities, schools, and specification projects across North America. When we visited the factory, we were impressed by their robust capabilities, not just in cranking out classic fixtures but in doing modifications based on the performance parameters required by the end-user or specifiers. They are one of those factories for whom the cut sheet is just the start of the capabilities.

If you head to their website, you'll find a series of case studies where standard fixtures were modified to fit the client's specific needs.

In a future post, we will explore Certolux, Viscor's medical-grade line of fixtures designed for specific applications in the healthcare environment, including lab spaces, surgical suites, and patient rooms.

As always, we're ready to bring samples right into your office for review so you can see these for yourself. Use our Contact Us page to book your own Viscor presentation.
